Editors Note: The buyer who inspired this post has graciously stated that they are glad I can use their mistake to help others from making their own mistakes.
How very cool! I swear, we have the nicest customers in the world!
Why in the world would somebody quit their job when they are trying to get a mortgage for a house? The only answer I can come up with is, you don’t know what you don’t know.
Trust me, this is not the strangest thing I’ve seen in my real estate world. At least once a month, if not once a week, somebody makes an unknowingly self-destructive decision regarding their home buying or selling experience. It’s never intentional, but it’s often a lesson learned that they will never forget.
We all do it. We think we know what we’re doing, just to find out that we didn’t.
Fortunately, staying calm and working through each situation as it arises can still get you to your happy ending.
#ProTip – ASK A PRO. Not just any pro, but a pro that you know - and trust. Learn as much as you can about the many details of homeownership before you start looking for your first home to purchase. Your future self will thank you.
Also…. Your CPA, Lender and Realtor should be on speed dial.
