Snakes, Lizards, and Fire Ants OH MY!
It all comes down to what you’re used to, whatever your personal normal is.
As a Realtor in Sarasota County I meet a great deal of people from the northern states who aren’t quite used to poisonous snakes, lizards, and fire ants. I am asked a lot of questions about our bugs, alligators, and coyotes. I don’t know why it always surprises me that people are concerned with such things.
For me, this is my normal. I remember being 10 years old and swinging my feet into lakes to purposely antagonize the local gator. Every time I went camping as a teen (in deep North Port) in the middle of the summer I was literally “one with the bugs”. I mean come on, one of my guy friends even woke me up to a baby gator an inch from my face. Not to mention I have never ever seen a coyote, do they actually exist? Geckos are cute, the snakes leave you alone, and the fire ants…. Well ok the fire ants are horrible.
There are some promises I can make to you about Florida, they are as follows:
1) You will never risk frost bite
2) You will never need to use a “window scraper”
3) You will have more sunny days than cloudy
4) 65 degrees will become your winter weather
5) Our sunsets are free and your happiness is priceless!
