When we think about South West Florida, most think of the larger gulf coast cities from Sarasota down to Naples. However - nestled in the middle is - the coastal paradise of Punta Gorda.
For many years Katrina and I have enjoyed the benefits of Fisherman’s Village. Just pulling into the parking lot has been like going on vacation to us. We’ve enjoyed many evenings of dining and entertainment with the most beautiful atmosphere around. Sunset cruises are also a favorite for us. Most of the pictures and videos of dolphins jumping on our Facebook page have been captured on these cruises that take off right from Fisherman’s Village.
A size verses population comparison clearly shows that Punta Gorda is a less congested city on the gulf.
Punta Gorda: Land = 15.05 sq miles 2010 Census = 16,641 2018 Estimate = 20,057
Sarasota: Land = 14.68 sq miles 2010 Census = 51,917 2018 Estimate = 57,738
Naples: Land = 12.33 sq miles 2010 Census = 19,539 2018 Estimate = 22,039
With the increasing awareness of the benefits of living along the Florida Gulf Coast, all of our beautiful cities are likely to continue increasing in population and opportunities. Currently in Punta Gorda, Allegiant Airlines is soaring with development. At Punta Gorda airport, it’s clear to see why Allegiant Air has been rapidly increasing the direct flights connecting us to the rest of the country.
In 2017, News_Press reported “Allegiant to build waterfront massive condo-hotel resort near Punta Gorda Airport in Florida”
Allegiant Travel Co., best known for its low-fare airline, chose a site along Charlotte Harbor for its first resort. “This is the largest waterfront resort of its kind in the state of Florida,” said Allegiant President John Redmond.
Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor will feature two stunning pool experiences. On the ground floor, the expansive pool is designed for all-day fun in the sun and features a poolside bar and grill. On the rooftop, luxuriate in a sophisticated oasis with hot tubs, a bar, and an unforgettable harbor view.
Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor will feature 55,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including an al fresco event deck overlooking Charlotte Harbor with full-service food and beverage.
They are creating a true destination resort — a favorite for locals and visitors alike to enjoy the restaurants, shops and atmosphere of the Sunseeker Resort at Charlotte Harbor.
Kingsway Country Club’s top-rated golf course is just 5 miles from Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor. The championship par-72 layout is a challenging yet forgiving course incorporating rolling terrain, wide fairways, ample bunkers and spacious TifEagle greens.
I can not wait to be able to enjoy dinner and drinks, pool side on top of the completed Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor, in the spring of 2021.
